Our website address is: https://www.qissareads.com. Qissareads is a reading platform for Muslim fiction, allowing authors to publish stories and readers to discover and follow them.
Accounts
If you create a reader account on our site, we collect your email address, chosen nickname, and password (stored securely, encrypted). You may optionally add a profile picture and a short biography. You can view, edit, or delete this information at any time from your account page, except your username, which cannot be changed.
Email notifications
If you subscribe to email notifications about new chapters or stories, we collect your email address for this sole purpose. You can choose which types of content you want to be notified about, and unsubscribe or edit your preferences at any time using the link provided in every notification email, or from your account settings.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Beehiiv, to send you account-related emails and chapter/story notifications you have subscribed to. Your email address is shared with Beehiiv for this purpose only. As Beehiiv is based in the United States, your email address may be processed outside the European Economic Area, in accordance with Beehiiv’s privacy policy and applicable safeguards. If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third party for advertising or marketing purposes.
How long we retain your data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely, so we can recognize and approve follow-up comments automatically.
If you register an account, we store the personal information you provide in your profile for as long as your account remains active. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time.
If you subscribe to email notifications, we retain your email address and preferences until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
